So many people go through life believing that they should earn enough so that they can retire at a certain age. Most of them would go through jobs they don’t really enjoy for years with the goal of just saving enough for the remaining years of their life. For some reason, 9am to 5pm has become the standard working hours for the whole corporate world. While this is a reality, you don’t really need to work 9-5 in an office to earn money.

The Internet has so many possibilities, and has forever changed so many industries. The Music Industry for example has been going through several changes when it comes to conducting their business. There are a lot of Internet money making opportunities out there that have made so many people millionaires (or billionaires even).

The beauty of the Internet

What’s great about Internet money making opportunities is that you can earn while working only a few hours at home. This eliminates the hassle of having to commute to the office, wear corporate attire (unless you are into wearing suits everyday), dealing with an unreasonable boss, and simply having a boring routine.

The blog phenomenon

Basically, blogging is an online journal that people may view (or not). Practically anyone can write blogs because it doesn’t really require technical or strict writing. You only have to be conversational when it comes to blogging. There have been a number of people that earn a lot through blogging. Some of them choose to put up their own blogging websites, and if there is a lot of traffic, they can sell ad space to companies. This is where the cash comes in. There also are blog sites that let you sign up for free and create your blog. If your blogs have enough traffic, the website would share the earnings they get from sponsors. Just make sure that you make your blogs as interesting as possible.

Buy and sell on the Net

Another way to make money on the Net is through auction websites. You’d be surprised at what junk people would buy on these sites. They would usually bid high prices for things of lesser value. There are some people that actually live on this alone. All they do is become creative in their descriptions (without lying of course). There are so many ideas when it comes to Internet money making opportunities.

There are so many other things that you can make money off of the Internet. If you master this art, then you wouldn’t even need a boring 9-5 job. Internet money making opportunities are endless, and it’s up to you to think out of the box and be the next multi-millionaire. GP

A lot of bloggers get into affiliate programs to get the buck flowing. Affiliate programs works on a commission basis style. Let’s say for example, you place a link for a book and an interested reader clicked on that. He will be taken to Amazon.com, for example, and if he purchases that book you will be getting fair commission.

Companies like Amazon usually give out commission of around 4-9% for simply bringing a client to their website with that client completing a sale.

If you think you want to make money this way, here are some tips that will help you get the best out of affiliate programs:

• Think of your Reader- Affiliate programs will work best if you know what your audience needs. Will they click links for books? Gadgets? Travel?

• Recommendations- Simply putting links will not do the trick. Genuine review and recommendation of products will convince readers to try it themselves.

• Quality Products- it will be best if you create links for companies and products with excellent reputation.

• Contextual Links- there is a better chance of people clicking on links which are similar to the contents of your blog, after all they are reading your posts cause they are interested on that.

• Hot Spots- affiliate advertising should be positioned optimally. Some recommend posting them on top of a left side bar or sometimes above the comments.

• Readership- As a blogger, you must generate traffic to increase the potential clicks of your affiliate ads.

• Neat lay-out- Avoid cluttering your site with tons of affiliate program links, instead try to experiment on the best affiliate link for your site.

• Transparency- you have to be honest with your readers and let them know through short notes what they are about to click on.

• Try other Methods- aside from doing affiliate programs; you can combine it with AdSense for example. Make revenue channels work hand and hand to see if they will be effective if placed together on your blog.

• Monitor Results- monitor which links are generating income for your site. The programs usually come with a tracking tool which can help in planning your moves.

A Closer Look at the Amazon.com Affiliate Program

No one can guarantee that the Amazon.com affiliate program will bring the money to all weblogs but there is a significant number of bloggers who earn a lot from these programs.

Let us look at some points that are making their affiliate program a hit:

• Amazon is a Respected Brand- People trust the amazon.com website in terms of making online purchases. People know that when they buy from the site, they will be getting quality products.

• Potential Earning- the 4% base commission may not sound high enough but Amazon.com has programs which will increase this base upon selling a certain number of items for them.

• Multiple Purchases- people tend to buy more than one product when they are on the Amazon.com site. You also earn from these purchases and not only on the product you recommended on your site.

• A good investment overtime- you can treat the earnings at Amazon.com as a small investment that will grow as it matures.

• Yuletide Boom- sales shoot up as Christmas approaches. The holiday season can be exploited and can earn you as much as 200% of your usual rate.

Affiliate programs really bring in the money without a doubt. All you have to do is know how to make them work for you. Explore cross linking, highlight key posts, and advertising to boost the income potential of your blog. Affiliate programs when fine tuned correctly will show you the money. GP

Practically you can talk about anything under the sun with only your creativity as your boundary.

Blog

It sounds like a thud of idea coming out from the heights of one’s creativity. These ideas relayed in words called posts in the internet language and are organized in chronological order. This is how we’ve known blog to be.

Blogs are usually musings of an individual that he puts online. It is an outpour of creativity for some which also becomes a business venture as ads bring in the money. These personal websites may also be organized into communities where people share ideas, meet friends, or do business.

Bloggers, or those people who maintain blogs, also archive their contents so people can pull up the information any time they want. The articles can be organized according to year and month published.

Bloggers also want to hear from their readers that is why it will be common to see a “Comments” section. Readers can leave any feedback that they want to share. It can be for any particular posts or about the whole blog.

If you are writing your own blog you also have to devote a section to tell everyone about yourself. Basically, you inform your readers who you are, your expertise, the goal of the blog, and your contact information. When you do this people will know why you are considered as authority in your chosen niche.

Keeping the Creative Juices Flowing

Knowing what your blog is all about, you need to fire up your creativity to maintain an interesting website which will keep readers coming and returning.

Here are some essential skills that you may need to be a successful blogger:

• Curiosity- a creative person asks questions to find out about things. The why, what if, and how tickles the imagination.

• How you see problems- if you are maintaining a blog, problems about life should be viewed as interesting. Based on these problems you can write a lot of things and may even branch to wider scope of discussion about life. The ideal approach to problems is optimism. Believing that they will be solved and believing that something good will come about.

• Constructive- creative people are aware that they must do something to improve things. Discontentment does not end up as mere rants but actionable information to inspire or start progress. You can look at challenges as leads to solutions.

• Perseverance- Maintaining a blog is not that easy. Sticking on what you’ve started is key to your success in the blogosphere.

• Flexibility- This makes the imagination boundless. Be open to anything and stretch the imagination so you can offer unique and new ideas to your readers.

Interacting with Your Readers

Blogging is expressing yourself and sharing your expertise but it is also a way to interact with your readers. Knowing their ideas through comments broadens your perspective about things and ideas that you believe in.

Any blogger should make it easy for the readers to leave comments. If you are the reader you wouldn’t want to go through registration and all just to post a comment about a single post, right?

Having a lot of comments on your blog also signify that it is a widely read site. Here are some ways how you can encourage comments to come in:

• Invite comments by encouraging readers of your posts to participate in discussions.
• Ask questions. Entice the readers to voice out their mind.
• Write back when comments are posted.
• Sometimes go for something controversial to fire up the interest of the readers.
• Share a bit of yourself and let them know of some of your weaknesses. GP

Aside from pouring your passion in your blog, it is also a great avenue to earn some money. A lot of people have made blogging their business because their earnings are far better than their regular Monday to Friday job.

Attracting Advertisers

One of the most effective income boosters for a blog is online advertisements. People will be reading on what you write about but there is also a big chance that they will click on the ads they see on the top, side, or bottom of your web posts. Here are some friendly tips to make your blog catch the attention of advertisers who will pay to have your online space:

“Advertise with Us”

This banner will serve as a shout out that you can help companies market their products. This maybe the most basic thing that you can put on your website if you want ads to come your way. Do not forget to lead advertisers to your ad rates and your contact information.

Show Advertisers your Space if you don’t have paid advertisements yet.

You have to show the advertisers which spots you have available for them. This can be done by placing house ads or partner ads in the very space you are selling for advertisements.

Show Advertisers the Info

What is the single information that will convince advertisers to place their ads on your blog? Traffic! Show the companies the basic stats like number of unique visitors and impressions on a monthly basis. For sure, if you have great numbers this will turn to big bucks with their ads.

Maintain a Neat Blog

Neat means professional looking, updated contents, and ad specific blogs. These will build your online credibility that will make your blog fit for business.

Free Ads- Place some free ads and you may attract competitors or similar institutions to place their ads on your space. You can also collaborate with them and tell them how they can make money through your blog.

In addition, you can avoid using Google AdSense and focus on attracting other online advertisements which will bring in bigger income for you. You also need to keep your “About Us” section up to date and discuss how you became an authority on the subject matters discussed in your blog spot.

Following these tips will surely attract advertisers. Soon their ads will be on your blog and cash flow will be more than enough.

Zeroing-in On Advertisers

Now that you know how to make your blog more attractive to advertisers, you must continue the hunt for those willing to pay for your space. Here are some tactics which may help you get started:

Start Small- Don’t go for the big fish right away if you don’t have paid ads on your blog yet. Look for small retailers, companies, or other websites which you can work with. This will not bring in the big money but is a good start to learn the trade.

Focus – Think about your blog and what it is about. You must know this before approaching potential clients. You must keep your blog on target by posting the right paid advertisements.

Be Flexible – If advertisers are a bit uncertain if they want to post on your blog, convince them by giving a discounted rate or a free trial. Online advertising is a two way street where you build good relationships that can earn you money, and more importantly, credibility.

Sell your Blog- Find a very interesting angle like your blog statistics and use this to negotiate with potential advertisers. Say you have high traffic for a certain section or if you have loyal following, these stuffs can work their way through advertiser’s thinking.

Be up to date – Check how other blogs are doing and see how you can learn from them. You can ask potential advertisers in other blogs who also handle the same niche as your blog.

Making your blog attractive for advertisers and knowing how to approach potential clients is just the tip of the iceberg of online advertising.

The ads will bring money to your bank account, but long term it will be wise to show your advertisers the value of sponsoring your website. Make them feel important and exceed their expectations so they will be more than happy to do business with you for months or years to come. GP

Anybody can be attracted to a website because it is very pleasing to the eyes. This is the very reason why bloggers put a serious thought on whether using a premade or custom template.

The design of the website can make or break a blogger’s career. If you are planning to start your own blog, there are a lot of things to consider for your design:

Pre-made Themes

Pros – These themes are great because they are free. It may be the most practical choice if you are just starting your existence on the internet. You can choose from a wide array of designs from popular platforms like Wordpress.

Cons : The downside of these free themes is that they are not unique. Browse the net and you will find a lot of people using the same blog theme as yours. If you think the design is good, a million others might also be thinking the same way. Using a common theme design may affect the recall factor and impact of your blog to its readers.

Custom Themes

Pros : A custom theme gives your site the unique personality it needs. Designs especially made for you will make your blog stand out from the rest which in effect creates a very effective branding. The identity custom themes bring to your blog will lead the traffic back to your website

Cons- The only downside of custom themes is their price. They come expensive ranging from $300 to $5000.

There are bloggers who have existed online using premade themes but if you can afford custom themes then go ahead. Affordability is the only stumbling block in creating a unique design which will make your blog leave a lasting impression to its readers.

Resolution and Lay-out Issues

After deciding between a premade and a custom theme, you might want to consider how your blog will look from the perspective of a user. You may want to ask what screen resolution should you use? Or how do I lay out the contents of my blog?

The resolution and the lay-out will determine the readability of your blog. You have to determine if your readers are using 800×600, 1024×768, or 1280×1024. Looking at the numbers, you can build the blog for most of your readers.

If most of the readers use a high resolution you have more space to properly place your content. Even with a higher resolution you can make the blog friendly to readers who opt for a lower resolution by doing the following:

The content should be on the left while the sidebar should stay on the right side

The articles must be linked together so users can view them without using the sidebar navigation

Use navigation links in the leftmost of the 2 sidebar columns if your lay-out uses 3 columns. This will allow low resolution user to more effectively navigate your site

RSS links maybe placed under your post so you make good use of the vertical space. The RSS link may not be seen by low resolution users if placed on the side bar.

There are also other solutions like using liquid layout or elastic layouts which adjust itself to the setting of the users in terms of screen width and font size.

You have to realize though that you cannot please everyone at the end of the day. The design should be excellent for most of your traffic and optimized for the rest.

Things to Consider if you are Beginner

When designing your website, don’t jump immediately to the visuals. It will come later. The important thing to do first is build a terrain so you know that the things on your website will work effectively and serve their purpose.

Here are some questions you can ask yourself so you can determine the right approach to designing your website:

What are the goals of my site? How am I going to achieve them?

Who will be reading my blog?

What functions should the website have to meet the demands of my readers?

Should I hire a professional designer? How many adjustments will I need to do myself from time to time?

How do I want to see a webpage if I am the reader? Colors? Images? Fonts?

You must remember that a reader will search and scan your blog to find information that he needs. An excellent design will keep him from jumping off your website or just hitting the x on the corner of that window.
